Free Drinks: Myopenbar.com
Why sit and drink your rent money when there's a wealth of bars around the city that are willing to give you a tipsy time for free (or almost free?). It's with this logic that Myopenbar.com, a daily list of bars, art openings, and events offering free and majorly discounted deals, was launched.

My Cheap NYC: Bars That Have Free Food
Going for a night on the town in NYC- there's nothing like it. The noise, the people, the sites- the cost. With drinks ranging from $5-$12 for more upscale mixed cocktails, it can be pretty easy to drink away your food money before you have time to take a sobering look at your bank account. That's why finding a bar that also serves free appetizers is a great way to save some change, while keeping your beer munchies at bay. While places like The Charleston are known for their free pizza, East Village Pruscetteria Ballaro serves a delicious happy hour sampler which includes a rotating smorgas of bite size Italian favorites. Be sure to stop by 5-7 to try it out!

MyCheapNYC: Neighborhoods
In NYC, picking an affordable neighborhood should be one of the top things on your list of importance. While Williamsburg and the East Village are trendier, nearby Greenpoint in Brooklyn is much more affordable. The perks?: Older, more distinguished housing, cheap Polish food nearby, lots of park space (and very dog friendly), and a quiet vibe. The downside?: You'll be off the the G train, one of NYC's most notoriously slow lines. However, during the day the G runs pretty frequently, and with a quick transfer on the 7 getting to midtown is a breeze. Also if you're you can handle a 15 minute walk, the Graham and Bedford L's are in close walking distance.

MyCheapNYC Restaurants: Vanessa's Dumplings
In New York City everything is expensive, so if you can cut costs anywhere then that can mean all the difference between next month's rent and your one way ticket out of town. The first thing on most people's lists to go is usually food. However, being a frugal foodie doesn't mean you have to sacrifice taste or quality. One of my favorite places to dine for less is Vanessa's Dumplings on Eldridge Street. Everything on the menu is under $5, and with treats like cabbage and pork dumplings, steaming hot and sour soup, and sesame pancakes for less than a one-trip metro card you really can't go wrong. The only catch? Seats are hard to come by and much coveted so be prepared to wait around, or send a friend in before you to scope out spots while you weight in line. However, if it's a nice day out why not enjoy another one of NYC's great cheap thrills- a nice walk around the Lower East Side.
